Matt Scharpf and I are once again playing to benefit the work of Chaplain John Barkmeyer as he tends to the needs of our men and women in Afghanistan. As usual, every dollar goes directly into a fund for his use - there are no administrative costs and no paid workers - just volunteers and friends.
Once again, LAURA BUTLER will be joining us, and if you haven't seen her yet, you're in for a real treat.
Come and join us; spread the word.
ComPadres primarily supports the work of Fr. John Barkemeyer, former pastor of St. Cajetan's on the South Side and currently chaplain in the US Army. All donations go directly to this cause, which supports our troops in ways which aren't always available in "official" channels.
To get in, we'll take your $20 (or more, if you're feeling generous). From there, you're on your own for food and drinks, but you'll get a full evening of live music. Special guests appearing at some point: the very talented Charlie Giger, Mike Jakubisin, and Laura Butler. Take advantage of the outdoor beer deck if you like.
Doc's has a full, delicious menu. All ages are welcome at this show. Please join us and invite your friends. You can link up to the Facebook event page and circulate the invite: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Blackbirds-of-Chicago/90336843935
